My name is Aaliyah. Welcome to year 7!
Year 7 is kind of a hard transition from year 6. Somethings you'll have to get use to is:

1. Where your classes are 😐
2. Homework😞
3. Break time😊
4. And being the youngest in the school😭
5. Form tutors 🙃
6. Enrichment😃
7. Prefects😇

 For point no.1 you'll just have to ask around feel free to ask me.

 For  point no.2 the first week your homework will probably be to laminate books and add pictures depending on your teachers. Most of them will ask you to add pictures and laminate them.

For point no.3 at break for the first week you'll be let out a little early but after that you'll have to rush to the tuck shop if you want food from there.  When your let out early the first week you'll get the food you want but when that's over you have to rush to get food because usually there's nothing left.

no.4 being the youngest in the school. You'll just get used to it plus then you have people taking care of you.

No.5 form tutors. Form tutors are different to teachers. Your form tutors will do the register with you and the bulletin (which is were you find out the 'ECA's') and you will have enrichment with them.

no.6 Enrichment! Enrichment is kind of like circle time, it's when you and your form tutor discuss different topics like-cyber bulling and end of year exams.

And last but not least no.7 Prefects! Prefects are year 11 students who come to your class on a certain day of the week and do activites with you such as:

• Games 🕹
• Kahoot
• Breakfast 🍳

A number of times in assembly, Mr ODowd (our head of year) has said that our year group was the best Year 7 he's ever experienced. So you now have a challenge. Try and steal the limelight and make yourselves the best Year 7 ever. Do you think you can do it?

Top Tips for moving to Year 7

Hi Year 6,

It's the last few weeks of term, and you're probably only thinking about the Senior School. You're feeling a mix of excitement, worrry and dread, (or you're completely fine and ready for Year 7, and if you are...wow). But whatever you're feeling, you're going to want to know some top tips for the transition from Year 6 (top of the school) to Year 7 (back to the bottom).
Here are some professional tips from the best people to ask...us!

• Make sure you have friends by your side: Year 7 is a lot easier if you have friends to watch your back and make the Senior School a lot more fun. 👍
• Sign your homework diary: (Wait what? Homework diary? What on planet earth is that?) In the Senior School you aren't assigned reading books so you don't need a 'reading journal'. However... HOMEWORK. Therefore, you have a booklet to remember and keep track of your homework. You also have to sign this every week and show it to your form tutor. Remember to, or you might get a detention if you forget frequently. 
• On the subject of that...homework! (Dun, dun, DUN!): The most dreaded thing about the Senior School (or maybe you love homework...idk). We have to have a whole other section for this!

1. Don't procrastinate (leave it for the last minute). Get your homework finished so you don't have to worry and can play Clash of Clans or whatever else you do.
2. Appreciate homework. (WAIT WHAT?). Yes, and don't worry, I'm not going crazy. Although it may seem like your subject teacher is trying to torture you, they're not, and this homework will help you a lot for end of year exams.
3. Do it properly and thoroughly. You might want to finish as fast as possible, but doing it properly will probably help you remember the information in the future.
4. Make it fun! There are lots of websites that show ways to make homework fun. There's no reason to make it torture. 

• Don't worry about older students: Rumours go round saying that the older students are really mean...they're not. They'll let you do what you want to do, and if you need help getting around the school, or not sure what to do, they'll help you
• Enjoy yourself!: Yes there are some ups and downs to Senior School, but if you ask the Year 7s this year, the majority will say they prefer the Senior School to the Junior School. They're are many good things about it such as a fresh new start, feeling older and not treated like a little kid, a little more freedom (no walking down the corridors in straight lines), and what every Year 6 student asks about, the tuck shop!

Homework

You may think that homework in year 7 would be very hard and there would be so much of it but luckily you are wrong. You should not worry because there isn't much of it and most of it is quite fun. You will soon get used to homework and it shan't be a problem for you.  At the beginning, there isn't much homework but as it gets closer to the exams, there might be a little more. But after the exams you won't get much homework.
